A PAIR OF CREAM LACQUERED NIGHTSTANDS ATTRIBUTED TO SUZANNE GUIGUICHON
A fine pair of 1930s cream lacquered nightstands attributed to Suzanne Guiguichon. Noted for her simplicity and elegance these nightstands have an understated balance of line and form, each beautifully proportioned on four curved legs with double drawers and gilt handles.
In the 1920s Suzanne Guiguichon worked at 'La Maîtrise' under the direction of Maurice Dufrène. She designed furniture, clocks, lighting, fabrics, rugs, and accessories. A contemporary of Eileen Gray and Charlotte Perriand, Guiguchons designs balanced the luxury of the Art Deco and the rational functionalism of the modernist movement.
Dimensions: D 32cm x W 40.5cm x H 60cm
Condition: In very good condition with original cream lacquer, some depressions to top and a minor indentation to edge. The tables have recently undergone a sympathetic restoration to maintain the integrity of the original lacquer and it's gloss.
